| Spa Tubs Upgrade |
|
|
 |
| Spa bathtubs cannot be upgraded as
easily during construction as they can be while designing your new
bathroom. These bathtubs require electricity to run the pumps and
heaters.
Some spa tubs come with in line heaters to keep the water warm for a
long period of time.
Be careful when ordering a spa bath tub over the Internet. I was
personally involved with someone who ordered a spa bathtub over the
Internet and they were extremely dissatisfied.
This spa was supposed to be 220 V and came with a 110 V extension cord.
Another problem with this spa bathtub was the waste part of the
plumbing. It would have never met the local building code.
The most common Spa bathtubs sold today are made from acrylic materials
and can be purchased at your local home improvement centers.
They do make cast iron Spa bathtubs and they can become very labor
intensive to install and are very expensive. These bathtubs are
extremely heavy and cumbersome.
The number one bathroom remodeling problem when it comes to a spa
bathtub will be running the electrical. If there is easy access (an
attic or a sub floor space) from the bathtub to the electrical panel
this will definitely be a plus. A Spa bathtub will also require its own
dedicated electrical breaker inside of the electrical panel.
If you're Spa bathtubs has an in line heater, this will also require its
own dedicated electrical breaker. Most of these electrical breakers will
be 20 amp breakers.
