| Waste and Overflows come in
different shapes and designs. The most common waste and overflow has a
chrome finish and is made from ABS plastic, PVC or brass. You can also
get a waste and overflow with a brass, nickel, gold and even some
colored finishes. Again you name it they probably make it.
The waste and overflow is used as a protection in case the bathtub over
fills with water. The upper part of the overflow will allow the water to
flow behind the drain and into the water waste system.
The only problem with this I have found is that if the water is on full
blast or even what I would consider a moderate speed it seems like the
waste overflow does not work to effectively.
In theory I guess it works but I think a new system is necessary in the
future.
Most waste and overflow packages are relatively inexpensive and can be
purchased at most home improvement or plumbing supply centers.
