Side view of rebar running in one direction. The rebar running perpendicular to the rebar shown in the picture has not been installed yet. You can see the rebar's have been tied but do not have any blocks underneath them yet. The blocks are used for spacers to keep the rebar off of the sand.

When you install the next section of rebar you will use the blocks to tie the next layer of rebar together where they intersect. The blocks are referred to as adobes and can be purchased at most home improvement centers.
