Imagine the post replacement problems you would have if you had to
replace them. The damage to a wood post can be caused by termites as
well as water. If you have a damaged wood post on the outside of the
home you can see the damage but if it is behind the drywall or stucco
you will not be able to see the damage. Replacing a post on the inside
of a house will be more costly due to the wall repairs needed to put the
house back together.
Post replacement is not as difficult as
beam replacement. Replacing a post in
some situations could be overwhelming. For instance if a post is holding
up a structural beam or the roof you might want to let a professional do
the job.
