| Plywood siding is a pretty common
form of siding and you will see it on a lot of houses. If you don't see
it on the walls you will see it on the ceilings. The plywood most used
and you can find it at most home improvement stores is T1-11. This
plywood has grooves cut into them at different spacing as shown in the
picture above. There is 4 inch
T1-11, 6 inch T1-11 and
8 inch T1-11. You can also
special order this plywood in different lengths 8, 9, 10 and 12 foot
lengths.
Standard T1-11 plywood is 4 feet wide by 8 feet in length and 5/8 of
a inch thick.
The second most common type of plywood is a rough sawn plywood. This
plywood is called plysawn. This makes sense being a
rough sawn plywood.
Plywood siding is easy to install and one of the cheapest ways to
cover the outside of your house. The biggest disadvantage is it needs to
be maintained or it will start to delaminate. You have got to paint the
plywood correctly or moisture will seep in to the cracks and before you
know it the plywood siding is ruined.
You must maintain and paint plywood regularly.
