Structural Concrete Remodeling

In the picture above we had to use a wet concrete saw to cut as close to the wall as possible with out cutting into the concrete wall or the electrical. After that we jack hammered out the old concrete floor slab on both sides of the wall and removed what we could of the floor. Then we dug out the dirt per engineering specifications. The next step would be to install the hold down anchor bolts and then pour the new concrete giving us a new structural footing.

This process is common when installing a second floor addition. There were two reasons for this new footing. One was to create a shear wall hold down and the other was so we could install a weight bearing post for the up stair floor.
